Sean Carey (S. Carey) known most notable as the drummer for Bon Iver has a new solo album out this April. Check out his new video for the song “In the Dirt” and check out the piece Spin did on the new album.

If you’re a fan of Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon, The Black Keys, The White Stripes, Blues, Southern Rock or music in general then you need to listen to The Shouting Matches upcoming album Grownass Man, the go out and pick up the album when it comes out next week, 4/16. The band also features Vernon’s former DeYarmond Edison band mate Phil Cook of Megafaun and Brian Moen of Peter Wolf Crier. Click the picture to head over to NPR Music for the full album stream.

Can’t wait for this album to come out!

Check out the music video for Bon Iver’s “Beth/Rest”. This is by far the weirdest music video I’ve seen, but it’s also one of my favorite songs from 2011.

Deyarmond Edison is the former band of Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon and members of the band Megafaun. Recently another band has formed from former Deyarmond Edison alum, Chris Porterfield. The band is called Field Report and has three songs available for free on their website from their upcoming self-titled album out September 11th. I haven’t been able to stop listening to the song “I Am Not Waiting Anymore.” It reminds me of a mix of Justin Townes Earle, Lucero and some of Bon Iver’s folkier stuff. The lyrics are great too. I love this line: “I’ve been blowing through time like nickel slots in a windowless room, on a credit card: flash it like a semaphore- a vague, drafty metaphor- I am not waiting anymore”

Sean Carey is the drummer for Bon Iver and performs solo as S. Carey. I just found out he has a sister, Shannon Carey who performs as Luray. Her music is really good, it’s what I’d describe as ambient folk. I particularly like this song titled “Promise of Lakes.” Enjoy!

Bon Iver performs “Blood Bank” live at Bonnaroo.

Here is the original version of “Coming Down” by Anaïs Mitchell. I think I still like the Bon Iver version better, but this is still really good and it’s a cool video.

Dang! Bon Iver cover’s Anaïs Mitchell’s “Coming Down.” I know this is probably kind of cliche to say about a band or artist you like but everything Justin Vernon and company touch is just so good and chillingly beautiful. Enjoy!

Check out the new Bon Iver video for the song “Towers.” My theory is that the guy in video is the little kid from the “Holocene” video as an old man… huh, huh, anyone with me?
